DEC 4 1999![]() The Terrorist Group Show brought together the work of several Los Angeles- based artists. Organized by Mark Farina, this exhibit fit perfectly in the Trade City Warehouse. The atmosphere of the opening night party proved to be quite electric. With music, drink, and all the necessary cheese dip- people interacted with the art and each other. Proving that art is not dead in Los Angeles. |
OCT 22 - 31 1999![]() For Halloween of 1999 Trade City Productions housed a frightening display of interactive horrors. Aided in the efforts by builder and creative idea-man extraordinaire, Pat McManamee, we were able to put together a play of the most elaborate form- A Haunted House. Dark tunnels and mazes overtook our once wide open theater space to reveal the horrors of one child's nightmare. Equipped with a staff of ten professional actors and performers this haunted house had grown men cowering in corners pleading for the exit. |
SEP 10 1999![]() Confiscated Art was an exhibit brought to us by a high school art teacher. All the pieces were once deemed inappropriate by the public school system and were confiscated for their deviant content. This show is a result of one teacher who, although wishes to reamin anonymous, thinks that it is important for the teenage community to express themselves. |

SEP 5 - 14 1998![]() In "Kathie and The Hippopotamus" by Peruvian playwright Mario Vargas Llossa, a man and a woman agree to meet in the attic of an imaginary Paris where the woman (Kathie - played by Liv Boughn) has hired a ghost-writer to script the memoirs of her trip to Africa. As the stories become more elaborate and more exagerrated so do the characters. The play is a stunning example of magical realism- an artistic movement popularized by Latin American writers such as Jorge Luis Borges and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. |
